How it's calculated

Your attendance percentage is simply: Attendance % = (Classes Attended ÷ Total Classes) × 100 Most institutions set a minimum attendance requirement (often 75%) to be eligible to sit exams. If you're above the requirement, the calculator also shows how many more classes you could skip while staying compliant; if you're below it, it shows how many consecutive classes you'd need to attend to catch back up.

Worked example

You've attended 42 out of 50 classes so far, and your institution requires 75% attendance. Attendance % = (42 ÷ 50) × 100 = 84% Since 84% is above the 75% requirement, you're compliant — and the calculator will show exactly how many additional classes you could still miss without dropping below 75%.

Frequently asked questions

What attendance percentage do most institutions require?

75% is the most common minimum, which is why it's the default — but check your own institution's policy, since some programs or courses set a different threshold (e.g. 80% for labs).

Does this account for excused absences?

No — enter only the classes actually counted as "attended" by your institution's policy. If excused absences don't count against you, don't include them in "Total Classes".

What does "classes needed to meet requirement" mean?

If you're currently below the required percentage, this shows how many classes in a row you'd need to attend (with no further misses) to bring your attendance back up to the requirement.
