CGPA Calculator

Aggregate your cumulative GPA across multiple semesters.

How it's calculated

CGPA (Cumulative GPA) aggregates every semester GPA you've earned into one overall figure, weighted by each semester's credit hours — not a plain average of your semester GPAs: CGPA = (Σ semester GPA × semester credit hours) ÷ Σ credit hours A semester with more credit hours affects your CGPA more than a lighter semester, even if both had the same GPA.

Worked example

You completed three semesters: - Semester 1: GPA 3.5, 15 credit hours - Semester 2: GPA 3.2, 18 credit hours - Semester 3: GPA 3.8, 16 credit hours Quality points: (3.5 × 15) + (3.2 × 18) + (3.8 × 16) = 52.5 + 57.6 + 60.8 = 170.9 Total credit hours: 15 + 18 + 16 = 49 CGPA = 170.9 ÷ 49 = 3.49

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between GPA and CGPA?
GPA covers one semester. CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester GPA you've completed so far — use the GPA Calculator first for each semester, then combine them here.
Do I need to include every semester?
Include every semester your institution counts toward your official cumulative GPA — check your transcript or academic policy if you're unsure whether a semester (e.g. a repeated or withdrawn one) counts.
Can I use this if my institution reports CGPA on a different scale?
This calculator assumes a 0-4.0 scale. If your institution uses a different scale (e.g. 0-5.0 or percentage-based), convert your semester GPAs to the 0-4.0 equivalent first.
